ANTARTICA LIVE brings together, for the first time as a complete collection, eleven original live performances by the progressive fusion trio Antartica.
Recorded directly to stereo analog tape and presented largely as performed, these recordings capture the group at full creative momentum, blending progressive rock, jazz fusion, adventurous improvisation, and ambitious original compositions.
Recorded with virtually no post-production and almost entirely free of overdubs, ANTARTICA LIVE preserves the immediacy, precision, and spontaneity of live ensemble performance. Heard together as a complete collection, these performances document an important early chapter in Marc Soucy's musical journey and foreshadow many of the compositional qualities that continue to define his work today.

FROM STEREO ANALOG TAPE TO THE PRESENT
The original Antartica performances were recorded live to stereo analog tape in 1982–1983, capturing the trio's musical interaction with minimal intervention.
In 1996, the analog recordings were transferred to digital audio, preserving the performances for future restoration and release.
Between 2024 and 2026, the recordings underwent audio restoration and mastering. This work prepared the original performances for their presentation as a unified collection while retaining the character and spontaneity of the live recordings.

Antartica's music combined elaborate original compositions with the energy and unpredictability of live performance. The trio's work reflects a period of musical exploration in which progressive rock, jazz fusion, and other influences could coexist within a single composition.
