“Mayhem in Antartica”

Performed LIVE by Antartica, with

Jeff Carano (bass) and Ray Lavigne (drums)

Mayhem in Antartica sets the stage for the style of the band: high intensity individual performances woven together to create a powerful statement and dramatic tension.

Demonstrating enormous discipline on their instruments, Jeff and Ray provide perfect support to Marc's extensive soloing once the main theme has been established. "Mayhem in Antartica" is meant to convey awe and yet a bit of humor as well.

This song was intended to be the band's theme song, and has been renamed from the original title for a more modern feel. The video features some individual head shots of the members from that period (give or take a few years; photos are hard to find!)

Certain sections of this song offer a tip of the hat to the late Keith Emerson.
