Marc Soucy’s EPK (electronic press kit)
“The project “STIR” is aptly named, and “Tashkent Club Fire” is its manifesto. Soucy explores the power of imagination as an escape and as a reflection. This series promises to shake up our expectations by delivering fragments of unknown worlds. It is a sonic journey that reminds us that, even in adversity, there is beauty to be discovered in the shadows.” — Extravafrench November 28 2024
BRIEF BIO
Marc Soucy has been composing and producing music for many years. He was an independent producer for 14 years leading up to 2011. He is now releasing a brand new music series entitled “STIR: Soundscapes Evoking Realities Only Imagined" an eclectic series of hybrid electronic--and primarily instrumental--pieces.
“My music is intended to elicit a series of emotions and hopefully the construct of "stories", either in your own imagination, or as provided by my music videos. Conceptually there is a world / global music component as well as a sci-fi or surrealism aspect to the project. Spirituality sometimes makes an appearance. The pieces cover a huge range of emotions and subject matter, and include influences from all over the world and its history.”

BIO
Marc Soucy has been connected to music since he was a toddler, and music has never released its grip on him. After many years performing, composing, producing, doing studio work, and forever tweaking things, he is now releasing new music to the world. “I’ve been working up to this moment for years. Now is the time!”
Marc played in his first rock and r & b band at the age of 13. Even at that young age, he had already taken 9 years of piano lessons. He has played keyboards in a couple dozen bands throughout his life, and his musical activities have been ceaseless. He was an independent producer from 1997 to 2011, working for some of those years at Boston’s famous Renaissance Recording Company when their website mentioned him as “Boston’s premier midi producer” in 2002.
His work with music technology began shortly after it was being developed: more powerful personal computers, MIDI (musical instrument digital interface), multi-timbral synthesizers, and digital audio recording comprised the flood of new technology that Marc surfed as it rushed by. It is all of this early experience that gives him the ease with which he navigates all the tools in his arsenal. “This familiarity with so many concepts allows me to focus on the music itself a lot more. Sure today’s music technology can be daunting at times, but it allows me to do whatever is in my mind. It’s a great time for me.”
Marc’s music is a hybrid electronic style, in the sense that everything is performed, programmed, and produced digitally. However, it doesn’t always sound “electronic” depending on the intended style. Often folk instrumentation and sounds normally associated with classical music or film soundtracks make an appearance. He borrows influences from the many musical styles he has worked on over his life: classical, rock, progressive rock, jazz fusion, world music, funk, and folk styles from all over the world, and merges them together into new musical collages. Hence the words “hybrid” and “eclectic” are frequently used to describe his work.
Marc always plays the parts on his keyboards before shaping the piece into the track it will become. He does all his own production, including recording, final mix, and mastering every track he creates.
“Marc Soucy’s instrumental nuances are as detailed as movies. The artist creates dynamic frames that completely immerse the listener - through movement, melody, drama, emotion, and mood. (He) is a visionary with a gifted eye for composition. His soundscapes are both diverse and elegant, wanting for nothing.” — Apollo’s Harp December 5 2024

“Melodies dance in unlikely sequences, cadence shifts at unconventional intervals, and instrumental interplay defies standard procedure. While diverting from conventions, the track stimulates cognition as artfully as any elite classical or jazz composition. …Always dedicated to his art, Marc Soucy once more affirms his status as a visionary artist of the highest order.” —Medium / EDM October 8 2024
